How it Works

Losing Focus is a project that involves taking a photo on a disposable camera and passing it on to the next person to do the same. This will continue until the film runs out, when it does, I will collect the film back, develop it, and display the photos as an art piece.

As well as the step by step guide, it is also important to read the project's guidelines which you can find by clicking here. By failing to meet these, your image may not be valid to use.

You've been given a camera

The first step is being given a camera and being directed to this page. Please read the following steps carefully before taking part to give the project the best chance at running successfully.

2

Take a photo

The project is centred around beauty but there's no need to overthink the subject - it's surprisingly easy to take an effective photo. You may wish to capture a person, nature, an experience, or anything else that you feel would fit.

3

Contact me

This step is optional but allows me to credit you for your participation and contact you for any issues or updates. Due to the nature of film photography, I may not be able to credit your individual photo, but you will be credited for your contribution to the final result. Click here to inform me of your participation.

4

Pass the camera on

The final step is to pass the camera on to a person of your choice who will repeat the steps above. When you do this, please direct the person to this website (a link will be attached to the camera).

5

Finish the film

Each camera should take 27 photos, if you take photo number 27 (the number on the top of the camera), you have taken the last photo on that film. In this case, it's important that you fill out the contact form so that I can arrange to collect the film and develop the photos.
